This June, we invite all alumni and their families and friends to return to the river where it all began! Enjoy live music, the unforgettable sunsets, waterfront recreation and more at the most popular alumni gathering of the year. Classes ending in a ‘4’ or ‘9’ will be honored with a special celebration for their milestone anniversaries on Saturday afternoon.

Townhouses

Enjoy the riverfront view from the Townhouse Green along with a communal bathroom, living room, dining room and full-sized kitchen with refrigerator and stove. Each townhouse contains two rooms with two beds in each room.

 

Suites

Bring your whole family or friend group with these three, five and seven room suites in Waring Commons and Lewis Quad! Suites include communal bathrooms and a living room area, but fridge, stove and microwave are not included.

 

Residence Halls

Rent one (or several) single or double rooms and corner off a hallway with your friends! Dorms do not include a fridge, stove or microwave, but they are located close to the Campus Center dining hall. Communal hallway bathrooms are segregated by gender.

About Alumni Weekend

Frequently Asked Questions

Alumni and their families / friends are encouraged to enjoy the most popular alumni gathering of the year. Whether you just graduated last year or are celebrating your 50 year reunion, bring a whole group down for a weekend on the river!

At 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, May 12. Walk-up guests or anyone who tries to register after this deadline will not be accommodated.

There is a non-refundable registration fee per party that is used to help offset the cost. Book by April 15 for the discounted $10 early-bird price. On April 16, the registration fee will increase to $15.

While there are many free events available at Alumni Weekend, several activities and items must be paid for in advance through the online registration. These include the:

  • Green Door Shuttle
  • Golden & Beyond Luncheon
  • Crab & Shrimp Dinners
  • Alumni Weekend Merchandise
  • Campus Housing

Drinks at the cash bars, dining hall meals and food truck meals can be paid for on-site.

We have many family friendly events throughout the weekend. Look for the "Family Friendly" icon on your pocket guide provided at check-in.

PLEASE NOTE: you must be over 21 to enter the fenced-off hospitality areas or purchase alcohol. Be sure to check-in at DPC to get your 21+ wristband for quick and easy service at the bar all weekend!

We recognize that for many, pets are family members. However, they are only allowed at Alumni Weekend if they are certified support animals or are specifically trained as accessible companions. In all other cases, we ask that you please leave your furry four-legged friends at home.

A limited number of on-campus housing units are available for purchase, including townhouses, suites and traditional dorm rooms. Campus housing will sell out, so please book quickly! You can add campus housing units directly to your online registration.

If you are not able to secure campus housing, we have discounted rates available at four hotels close to campus. Check out the options listed above!

Meals will be available in the campus dining hall throughout the weekend. You can pay for these on-site with cash or credit card. In addition, food trucks will be stationed around campus at specific times. You also pay for these meals on-site with cash or credit card. 

IMPORTANT NOTE: Crab and shrimp dinners for Saturday night MUST be purchased in advance through the online registration. Logo pint glasses (refillable during the Saturday Waterfront Dinner) must be purchased in advance through the online registration. Walk-ups will NOT be accommodated for crabs, shrimp or logo pint glasses.

Registering for Alumni Weekend

Yes. All attendees MUST register in advance for Alumni Weekend by 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, May 12. Primary registrants should add ALL members of their party as guests to the online registration. At check-in, attendees will be given a wristband that will indicate if they are 21 or over or not. These wristbands will be required to participate in any Alumni Weekend events and activities.

Wristbands are required to:

  • Check out Waterfront equipment
  • Stay in campus housing
  • Ride the Green Door Shuttle
  • Buy beverages at the bar
  • Participate in the Community Open Houses

No wristband = no fun, so be sure to register in advance! Anyone without a wristband will be turned away from Alumni Weekend events and activities.

Certain events do not require advanced registration, however only registered guests will be allowed to walk up and participate. Anyone without a wristband will be turned away from Alumni Weekend events and activities. Please preregister by Sunday, May 12 and check-in at DPC upon arrival to receive your event wristband.

Look for “Walk-ups Welcome” in your pocket guide provided at check-in.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Activities marked “Preregistration Required" on the Schedule of Events will not allow walk-ups. In addition, Alumni Weekend merchandise, logo pint glasses and housing will not allow walk-ups

Alumni Weekend logo T-shirts, koozies and pint glasses must be purchased in advance through the online registration. However, you can stop by DPC on Sunday from 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. for the “Merchandise Giveaway!” We will have vintage glassware, apparel and yearbooks available. Optional donations for the Alumni Legacy Scholarship are appreciated.

On-campus housing reservations are built into the Alumni Weekend online registration. One person in a group must purchase the entire townhouse, suite or residence hall room and collect payment from their guest(s).

Each primary registrant may only purchase one housing unit, with the exception of Residence Hall double rooms.


When you register online or over the phone, you will immediately receive a confirmation email. If you do not receive an email confirmation, your registration may have been unsuccessful. If you have any questions about your registration, contact the Office of Alumni Relations at alumnioffice@smcm.edu or (240) 895-3381.

You may change certain aspects of your registration by clicking the unique link in your confirmation email. You may add events and/or guests or remove unpaid events to your original registration at any time before Sunday, May 12.

If you would like to request a refund, please review the Alumni Weekend refund policy below.

To request a refund, contact the Office of Alumni Relations at alumnioffice@smcm.edu or (240) 895-3381.

Refunds requested by 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, May 12 (when registration closes) will receive a full refund for all activities, merchandise and campus housing. However, the registration fee is non-refundable.

Refunds requested from Monday, May 13 to Wednesday, May 31 will be charged a mandatory 20% refund processing fee. The registration fee is non-refundable.

Refunds requested on or after Thursday, June 1 will not be accepted.

Please note that refunds may take upwards of five business days to process.
